ugh
June 21, 2006 on 3:23 am | In rants | No Commentsso i have this theory, that if AM people order their steaks well done, as they typically do, they are crappy tippers. on the flip-side, if they order it any other way than burned and dried out, they will tip appropriately. well my theory was reinforced yet again on monday night. one ribeye, well done… what a waste of a good steak. 3 dollars on a 32 dollar check. one bistro steak, well done. 4 dollars on a 37 dollar check. barely ten percent.
of course, last night i had a table of four, 2 parents and 2 children whose check was 68 dollars. everything went fine. they got what they ordered, their drinks were never empty, i even boxed up their damn food. they paid with american express traveller checks and left me a whopping ZERO dollars. but their kids did draw a nice picture on the children’s menu that stated “town notice ‘you are hereby fired’” and “you work for me, pay me” evil children for evil parents. i really hope they got a flat tire or something not very nice happens to them. oh, these people were obviously WT in disguise.
circus
April 30, 2006 on 5:11 pm | In misc | No Commentslast night i went to the circus. the ringling brothers/barnum and bailey circus came to the us cellular coliseum in bloomington. the circus itself was good. however, i wasn’t too impressed with the coliseum. the pre-show for the circus started an hour before the show… the show was supposed to start at 6:30 and therefore, the pre-show should have started at 5:30. we left early because parking was supposed to be a pain. we paid 5 dollars for parking and got a spot right away. so we arrived at the coliseum around 5:05. it was cold and damp outside. the would not let us in the building at all. so we had to stand outside for over a half hour. i thought that was kind of rude. especially with all the little kids and there was an older lady in front of us who looked to be about 80. if that were MY grandma, we would NOT be standing outside. thankfully, they let her inside to use the facilities.
my next complaint is… a little girl and her mother went outside the circus area, probably to use the restroom. the girl came back with a white tiger cup with a snowcone in it. while the girl and her mom were gone, the people put up a net, which required cables to be attached to the floor, RIGHT next to the chairs where the girl and her mother were sitting. the little girl tripped over the cable, spilling her snowcone and hurting herself. i mean, this girl went FLYING. you would think they would buy her a new snowcone. they didnt. they did fill out an accident report, i believe. while they were filling out an accident report, another lady came down the stairs to talk to the girl’s mom and SHE tripped over the cable. luckily, she didn’t go flying.
i don’t know if i will be going back to the coliseum for a while.
WT
April 15, 2006 on 3:57 pm | In work | No Commentsokay… so last night i had a wt table (white trash)… we try to be polite at work when we’re talking about them.
they annoyed me from the very beginning. first… they sat on the same side of the booth. that annoys me. second, he ordered for her. that annoys me. third… he was so proud that he ordered “everything” yet he forgot the potato. he had to ask her what potato and she just chose what he had. mashed, for those of you wondering. third, he ordered his porterhouse (a 25+ dollar steak) WELL DONE. and she had the strip, well done. well they also ordered an appetizer, which came out fine. then i stopped by to fill up their waters, saw they were almost done with their appetizer and was about to ask them if they were ready for their salads, when the FINE gentleman says to me “can you bring out my salad, i don’t want to eat it with my steak.” to which i replied “well, i haven’t even put your order in yet, so that won’t happen, but if you are ready for your salads, i will bring them out.” so i brought their salads and waited to put in their stupid well done steaks. i wanted to make sure they had enough precious salad time. so they finished their salad and 15 minutes later, their steaks came out. nice and charred. i asked if they needed anything else and the FINE gentleman replied (picture a hick accent here) “nope we got our A-1 so we’re just FIIIINNNNE!!” i should add that his steak wasn’t completely bone dry in the middle, so he hesitated when i asked him if it was cooked to his liking… but he said it was eventually. so i went back later to see if things were still fine and their A-1 bottle was upside down… so i asked if they needed more. they enthusiastically stated they did.
that is the epitome of a white trash table. oh and they left me 6 on 53. which is a LOT more than i was expecting.

xander
March 29, 2006 on 10:29 am | In xander | 1 Commentxander had his first vet visit since living with us. he did very well. he got a shot, which he whined during and after. he also got micro-chipped. the vet gave us a free 5 lb bag of science diet puppy bites, which xander likes a LOT better than puppy chow. xander had a clean bill of health, with one exception: he has worms. apparently about 80% of puppies are born with worms. so, i get to look forward to that… hopefully he passes them in the yard and not the house. ick. speaking of that, he only had two accidents in the house yesterday… one of each. so that was good. and they both occurred at night after i praised him for not going in the house at all. go figure. we got him some vitamins. it’s a tube of stuff like toothpase, only brown. he likes it. and we also bought him some pupcorn. which he LOVES. i haven’t tried it, but i’ll take it home with me next time so jim can.
in other news, i take the lsat on june 12 at illinois wesleyan. i just want to know how well i’ll do. if anyone has any tips, please feel free to let me know.

seriously….
February 15, 2006 on 8:43 pm | In work | No Commentsfor all you people who go out to eat in a restaurant where people are waiting on you…..
it is not the server’s fault if the restaurant is out of something. it is not the server’s fault if the last time you were there, the restaurant was out of the same thing. it is not the server’s fault if the menu lists an item incorrectly. it is not the server’s fault if the restaurant changes soda brands and doesn’t change the menu. it is generally not the server’s fault if your steak comes out wrong. so don’t take it out on the server… okay? this happened to me this evening with just one table. all of it. feel sorry for me please.

first week of interning
January 22, 2006 on 2:38 pm | In school | 1 CommentI made it through my first week of interning at the Assistant State’s Attorney’s office. It went okay. I wasn’t able to do what i was supposed to be doing because my password didn’t work. I did start the computer work on Friday though. Also, on Friday, I went to court. I followed one of the attorneys around like a puppy dog. I made his copies and i wrote out two warrants. I also observed two divorced couples bickering while speaking to the attorney. It was all very exciting. I do know, however, I want nothing to do with any form of child support as a career. I think I would get too annoyed at the parties involved.
I got a parking ticket on Friday. I parked where this lady I work with told me to and apparently I can’t park there. So I really do have to walk three blocks to get to the office. That is rather annoying since the weather is crappy.
The first week of school felt like it lasted for months. I really hope the entire semester doesn’t go like that.
