Kid Rock

January 27, 2008 on 11:44 am | In misc, rants | No Comments

Tom and I went to the Kid Rock concert last night. It was amazing. He performed with Rev. Run from Run DMC and some dude from the J. Giles band. Kid Rock definitely does not disappoint with his performance. He sounded great. He was entertaining. The concert was packed with music. The first half, the dude from J. Giles band performed a couple of his songs with Kid Rock. That was okay. The second half, he performed with Rev Run and they sounded great together. People can say what they want about Kid Rock, but he is quite the talented musician. He plays guitar AND drums really well. He sounds in concert like he does on his CDs. He sang a couple songs from his new CD and most of his popular songs. He ended with Bawbitaba on the encore. Before that, they sang “This Little Light of Mine.” It was a super good time.

I did notice some things about the people who came.

Standing outside waiting to get in, there was a couple with a kid who couldn’t be more than 8. I feel it’s inappropriate to bring someone that young to such a concert. Nevermind the content of the songs, but the loudness factor can’t be that good.

In front of us there was a couple with 2 kids. The oldest girl looked to be maybe 12? I’m guessing here. The mom proceeded to get extremely drunk and by the end of the night was throwing a fit about something. My guess is the guy cut her off from beer and she was pissed. If you are going to bring your kids to a concert like that, I don’t think it’s appropriate to get totally wasted in front of them.

Apparently, it’s mandatory for guys to rest their hands on their girlfriends butts during these concerts. That was the trend I saw.

At first, there were these older guys and girls (one guy looked to be about 70) sitting behind us. The one right behind me was wearing a hot pink feather boa and a black hat with a hot pink feather in it. I am glad they were apparently in the wrong seats because i just KNOW that guy would have spilled beer on me at some point. He almost knocked me in the head with his cup before the concert started.

I guess it wouldn’t be a Kid Rock concert without someone bringing in some pot. I don’t know where they were sitting, but they were pretty close to us. But between the overwhelming smell of beer mixed with the smell of pot, it was kind of nauseating. People were also smoking cigarettes in there.

THEN, he had a 15 minute break and Tom and I and i swear half the coliseum went outside to smoke. What a mess that was! Drunk ass people at Kid Rock concerts are a LOT ruder than drunk ass college kids at Fat Jacks, let me tell ya. Pushing, spilling beer, yelling…

SOOOOOO… if you can overlook the stupid people who attended the concert, it was a really good time.

a thought

ok, when it’s 2 am and i can’t sleep and i am watching television…. “a time to kill” to be exact… and you know, it’s a pretty serious movie.  lots of serious issues and whatnot, and i am TOTALLY getting into the movie and BAM!!!!  a commercial… and not just any commercial.  it’s a “funny” commercial for friends.  I think that if the network is showing a serious movie, they shouldn’t ruin the mood of the movie by showing loud obnoxious commericials RIGHT when they go to break.  perhaps they could ease us in.  that’s just my thought… of course i could’ve just waited until it was DONE recording, but i watched it while it was recording and it caught up.  oh well…

wow it’s been a while…

anywho, i figured since it had been a while since i posted, i’d write something. i graduate in may, thank god!!! i recently got a job at a local lawfirm, parttime, doing paralegal work. it’s a good experience for me. it’s nice to be able to actually learn what i will be doing when i get a job after graduation.

i’m tired of snow. i’m tired of being stuck in the house. i’m tired of our alley not being plowed.

tom’s boss at his previous job is wanted in connection with the murder of his wife. this happened on tuesday. so that is pretty interesting. if you want the story, go to www.pantagraph.com. they’re still looking for him. who knows where he went…

i have other news, but i will save that rant for another day… and believe me, it will be a rant!!!

who cares?

circus

last night i went to the circus.  the ringling brothers/barnum and bailey circus came to the us cellular coliseum in bloomington.  the circus itself was good.  however, i wasn’t too impressed with the coliseum.  the pre-show for the circus started an hour before the show… the show was supposed to start at 6:30 and therefore, the pre-show should have started at 5:30.  we left early because parking was supposed to be a pain.  we paid 5 dollars for parking and got a spot right away.  so we arrived at the coliseum around 5:05.  it was cold and damp outside.  the would not let us in the building at all.  so we had to stand outside for over a half hour.  i thought that was kind of rude.  especially with all the little kids and there was an older lady in front of us who looked to be about 80.  if that were MY grandma, we would NOT be standing outside.  thankfully, they let her inside to use the facilities.

my next complaint is… a little girl and her mother went outside the circus area, probably to use the restroom.  the girl came back with a white tiger cup with a snowcone in it.  while the girl and her mom were gone, the people put up a net, which required cables to be attached to the floor, RIGHT next to the chairs where the girl and her mother were sitting. the little girl tripped over the cable, spilling her snowcone and hurting herself.  i mean, this girl went FLYING.  you would think they would buy her a new snowcone.  they didnt. they did fill out an accident report, i believe.  while they were filling out an accident report, another lady came down the stairs to talk to the girl’s mom and SHE tripped over the cable. luckily, she didn’t go flying.

i don’t know if i will be going back to the coliseum for a while.

pat on the back for me!

January 5, 2006 on 8:27 pm | In misc | No Comments

i find it unbelievable that people can be SO inconsiderate of other people’s feelings. friends who sleep with other friend’s boyfriends… who DOES that? i mean, outside of soap opera land?
